Hi - My name is Sarah Sullivan. I am theater artist and illustrator living (mostly) in Connecticut. A Connecticut native, I have also lived in some really great places in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, California and the UK. I have a BA in Theater from Smith College and an MFA in Theater Design from the University of California at Irvine. When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking in the woods, playing french horn, and making somethings out of nothings. I create narrative art with both digital and traditional media. My influences and inspirations include E.H. Shepard, Carl Larsson, Brett Helquist, Jesse Willcox-Smith and Chris Riddell. I have been working in theater both professionally and educationally for “quite some time”. I have always had a great curiosity about how things work and are made and have loved trying to inspire that same interest in students. I love that much like my work in theater, the process of illustration is collaborative and allows me to visually tell stories, ask questions, solve problems but does not need me to carry plywood up stairs!
